Hi Amaterasu,
It’s hard to predict what will be on Paper 2, but usually you will have questions on topics that didn’t come up (in much depth) on Paper 1. The topics that often come up on Paper 2 include rivers, earthquakes/volcanoes, climate/weather and settlements.
Sorry that i can’t give you anything more specific, but I hope this helps regardless.

Yes, even thoug my material is designed for the CIE IGCSE 2016 syllabus you are likely to find a vast amount of overlap with the Edexcel syllabus, and even with the GCSE topics. I have an exam soon and i wanted to know how to study for the case study questions. It seems like there are so many case studies for each topic and im not sure how to remember them all.

The most important part of your revision should be the core topics (ie. knowing the theory). Once you understand the theory, the case study questions only require you to remember some place-specific references.
My page with the case studies definitely has more examples than the average student would need, so how many of these you need to study would depend almost entirely on the grade you are aiming for.
If you’re aiming for A*-A, I would suggest that you go over all of the case studies, trying to remember some place-specific reference and important points you could write about (from the theory section).
The best way to practise these is to attempt as many questions as possible. What I used to do was that I took the last 10 years of past paper case study questions and tried to solve all of them. Then I would look at the mark schemes and try to grade myself. That way I noticed some questions that appear quite frequently. Some of these were overpopulation, high population growth rate, causes of volcanic eruptions or earthquakes, tourism and its impacts on natural environment, growth of a settlement, and high technology industries.
If you’re aiming for a B or below I would not spend too much time revising the case studies as the primary focus for you should be on understanding the core content. Therefore, I would study only 2-3 case studies from each topic, including the ones I mentioned above.
And another general tip for in the exam would be that if you don’t have an example for a case study try to think of a likely example and make up the place specific reference. As long as you’re not too far off your examiner might not even notice, they’ll look up the location of your case study on Google Maps, but they won’t usually fact-check (ie. check for statistics). That is too much work for them 😉

Our teacher at school taught us to write 7 points with 2 statistics and a place specific reference. But that doesn’t sound like what you just explained so now i’m confused. Since this is an internal exam, do i just write the way my teacher wants?

Dear Amartya,
There are different ways you can approach the 7-mark question to earn full marks. One of the methods, which I found easiest – and therefore explain on my website – is to include 3 points with developed (ie. detailed explanation) and at least one or if possible two place specific references – one of which can I my opinion be a statistic.
To me, your teacher’s method looks at least equally valid as mine, and would probably help weaker students to also secure 7 marks – as they often find it easier to memorise 7 points, rather than to explain 3 points. Your teacher’s method can really help you to secure those 7 marks, but if you want to maximise your results with minimal time I would recommend my approach – at least for the final exam.
For your internal I suggest you use your teacher’s method as that may earn you higher predicted grades.
Ultimately, the strategy you choose is up to you – either one should be fine.

Yes, no problem.
Paper 1 has 6 questions in total, split into 3 different sections. (Q1 and Q2 are in Section A and are about human geography; Q3 and Q4 are in Section B and are about physical geography; and Q5 and Q6 are in Section C, which covers economic geography and environmental geography. In the exam, you will need to choose one question from Section A (ie. answer either Q1 or Q2), one question from Section B (ie. answer either Q3 or Q4) and one question from Section C (ie. answer either Q5 or Q6).

Are you asking for advice on Paper 2 and Paper 4? In Paper 2 you need to answer all the questions. The first question (for 20 marks) tests your map skills, including grid referencing, identifying features based on the legend, calculating distances and drawing the cross section of a mountain or river. This link explains how to do all these.
Paper 4 requires you to be familiar with a variety of fieldwork techniques, including how to gather data (on different areas of the syllabus), interpret data from tables and charts as well as establish and evaluate hypotheses. The most common topics asked in Paper 4 are tourism, settlements, rivers and coasts. Here’s my tips and skills for Paper 4.
If you ask me to make a prediction about topics for paper 4, I’d say probably rivers and energy use (which is what came up in 2012) – because when I did my exams in 2016 we had almost the same topics as those in 2011.)

Still I can help you out with the past papers. For papers 2 and 4 you can visit websites eg. xtremepapers, where you can find the question papers, inserts and mark schemes. Try this link: http://papers.xtremepapers.com/CIE/Cambridge%20IGCSE/Geography%20%280460%29/
To find papers 2 and 4, I’ll explain how papers are ordered.
Notice how each paper has a name consisting of several numbers, such as 0460_s11_qp_13
0460 stands for the syllabus and subject (Geography)
S stands for summer (W stands for winter edition)
11 (or any other number directly after the edition) stands for the year of the past paper
qp stands for question paper, ms stands for mark scheme and in stands for insert
then the number indicates which paper is meant.
papers 1, 11, 12, 13 are paper 1.
papers 2, 21, 22, 23 are paper 2
and papers 4, 41, 42 and 43 are paper 4.
It should be easy to revise for those using the past papers.
Unfortunately the OS Maps for Paper 2 are not available due to copyright reasons, so if you want to practise those I suggest you ask your teacher (as they should have access to all the maps).
